At First Blush

There's a new makeup trend. I find these things out while I'm working. When I say "working," I usually mean painting my nails for a mini photo shoot or getting my eyelashes dipped in something or other. Sometimes, "working" means writing. I understand if someone wants to reach their arm through the computer and cyber-slap me.

Anyway, as I was saying: new makeup trend. Blush is on the up and up—literally. It's gone from the apples of the cheeks to the cheekbones and now, to the temples. Here's a prime example:

Pretty? Yes. Easy to pull off? No. Depending on placement and saturation, blush at the temples can have a sickly effect. Worst case scenario, it resembles a rough case of pink eye. Which is neither cute nor comfortable.

However, a few tweaks make it surprisingly easy to try in real life. Just keep a few things in mind: don't wear eyeshadow. At this height, blush does double-duty as rouge and eyeshadow. Secondly, try sweeping it from the cheekbones to the temples, as shown below. That way, you get the best of both worlds. Lastly, commit. A wimpy patch of pink is going to look exactly that: wimpy. Here, the perfect real-world execution of this trend:
Would you be game to try? Or is it too over-the-top?

Sexy eyebrows (yes, eyebrows)

Oh my goodness, how gorgeous are these dramatic eyebrows? When I saw these stunning photos of Oscar de la Renta's recent runway show, my jaw dropped. Makeup artists often insist that eyebrows are the most important part of your look, since they frame your face and can make your eyes look bigger and make your face look younger. Wouldn't you love to recreate these sexy bold brows for a night out?

Happily, my make-up artist friend Suzy Gerstein shared the two steps to getting the look: "The secret to a gorgeous full brow is to layer products. First, sketch in any sparse areas with hairlike flicks of a brow pencil. Use the skinniest, pointiest pencil you can find, so your drawn-in 'hairs' will look natural. My favorite is the Kevyn Aucoin Precision Brow Pencil. Then layer a powder color over the pencil. Two colors that work well for brows: MAC eye shadow in Brun (for brunettes) and Concrete (for blondes)."

What do you think, my lovelies? Would you dare? xoxo

all i want for christmas is you...

for now, that is! :)

(longchamp le pilage (in red), michael kors flats, open toe booties, mac eyeshadow palette... or some philip stein watch & diamond blings! :)

i ♥ FALSIES! and i don't mind breaking the ban for these!

i honestly have NO idea how i'm gonna survive that shopping ban thingy (i imposed on myself) 'cos i'm so used to living under my dad's extension - even if i was already working! and i'm really trying NOT to use the plastic anymore, cos i (actually my friends made me) realize that i should be more responsible, and stop depending on my parents - especially when it comes to financial matters - when i should be paying for my own vanities, instead of them. *sigh*

so whatever. i was shopping for falsies (ardell 118 & stuffs) today... since my eyelash extensions are starting to fall off (it's been a month now, and i don't want a retouch 'cos i find eyelash extensions a bit high maintenance/ 麻煩). and another not-so-good thing about extensions is that you'll get addicted to them! like, i can't imagine my eyes w/o them stuff! ~haha. wanna try the fashion/ glittery ones soon!!

anyway, this was my original set of 80 pcs. of individual falsies PER eye,
one week old.
and i can't wait to use the ones that i bought! (when im NOT super lazy)

ooh baby i want you...

this girl is HOT!

or maybe its the tights?? :)

i received some news, a few weeks back, that H&M will be opening in Manila soon! :) yeeeey! and also Hermes... but i can't afford Hermes, so just yey to H&M! but i also wonder if it's 4-storey, like in china, considering our Topshop stores here are kinda small? hmmmm... i wish F21 & AA would come their way soon, so our lives would be almost perfect already! ~hehehe.

and i know my HK trip is coming VERY near (next week), but i can't control myself from viewing sasa.com - and the free shipping that comes with min. $75 purchase - is really tempting! :( considering i just had my 2nd order from everydayminerals.com last week (i ordered all of their super soft brushes), now i have NO idea how the hell i'm gonna consume my makeup's in my stash! (maybe i should enroll makeup classes?).

i'm also itching to get me some of these circle lenses u see asian girls are wearing...

because it makes ur eyes purrity and huge...

even our mall receptionist (in shanghai) wears one!

and just when u tought my vanity is almost over, i'm planning to have some eyelash extensions this saturday. ~haha! let's see what happens! :)

edit: i forgot to mention, the asian girl is actually an HK model named angelbaby :)

so much for goodbye..

(sorry i clicked something other than publish earlier! :)

packing & shopping has been taking most of my time lately... but when it comes to the office - only have 2 weeks left! - im FREE as a bird! \(^.^)/ and its weird cos the office suddenly felt like a cybercafe today... so much for my 'be gone for a while' last post! im so BORED and im blogging again.

i haven't stopped shopping since the start of SALE season and its NOT healthy! i'm always like this everytime i need to go home... and since there's no h&m there, i am - admittedly - acting like a crazy rat! or an ant? or maybe its the 10% animal instinct i have? telling me that i NEED to prepare for the RAINY SEASON or whatever those natural instincts are! so yesterday, i promised myself no more shopping!
(fedora: ben sherman. tank: topshop. cardigan: yarou (from xiamen). skirt: h&m. shoes: h&m. necklace: h&m. sunnies: h&m.

but right now, i feel like my brain's trying to outsmart me. no more clothes, but...

aren't they pretty? :) i love makeup as much as ilove clothes! :)

these are for my niece! :) she's not 2 yet, and i want to give her some cute toys (aside from the jewelry i bought for her recently) BUT i really want the leafy thing for myself! :)

i guess im back with my friends for today! and just dissappear when i really don't have time for you & me! :) xoxo

oh and MODEJUNKIE and AMIE and WINNIE nominated me the PREMIO AWARD.. but i think most of you have been tagged already, so i give this to all the wonderful readers, and frequent visitors of my blog... ilove you all! and thanks for always leaving a word! :)

THE BOOK TAG: (from lovely Marta)

1. pick up the nearest book.
2. open to Page 123.
3. find the 5th sentence.
4. post the next 3 sentences.
5. tag 5 people and acknowledge who tagged you.

the only english book i have here with me (no, really) is Paulo Coelho's Like the Flowing River. ilove Paulo Coelho simply cos he's inspiring, and all his books are quite relatable and easy to read. BUT if i were home in my library, i'd probably pick Nina Garcia's Little Black Book of Style, just because im superficial, and we sometimes DO love/need superficial things right?! ~hehe.

"There, God says to Moses: "Speak unto the children of Israel, that they go forward." And only afterwards does he tell Moses to lift up his rod, and then the Red Sea parts. It is only courage on the path itself that makes the path appear." - Like Flowing River, Paulo Coelho.

ps. i think im going to blog more duing OFFICE HOURS.

other shopping hauls...

since ive got to wait 'til my OWN hongkong escapade before i buy the handbag of my dreams, i know i can't last a week without buying anything...

NARS blush in Orgasm. its really hard to find one here... poor girl who reserved for this one at g4 cos i bought it already! note to self: be on time when you reserve for something you really want!

MAC fluidline in blacktrack. im obviously an eyeliner-whore and can't live without one! :)

Skinfood BB Cream in Aloe. I've read really good reviews about this product, like from Phyllis blog (from makeupforlife) and had been itching to try it out for weeks! i hope it works on me though... cos i really have this damn sensitive skin and i always break out when i try new brands/products like Kiehls and Mario Bedescu!
