Greek Tragedy: Audi R8 Sliced by Guardrail

What you see pictured here is the result of a truly horrifying accident involving an Audi R8 that occurred in Athens, Greece. As you can see, the guardrail, which by the way, is supposed to protect drivers (...), has pierced the German supercar from front to back. We don't have all the details, but it is said that the driver of the car miraculously survived the crash, but not without serious injuries, while the female passenger escaped unhurt.

VIDEO: The Fast and Furry-ious Rental Car Advert Starring a Ferrari California, an Audi R8 and Two Bears

Well, we guess that the title says it all, but if it doesn't, this wacky advert showing two men dressed in bear suits having a night of their life after renting a Ferrari California and an Audi R8, was created by Nick Miller to promote the California-based Midway Car Rental company. Watch the three-minute-long video after the break.

Audi R8 Super Sport Concept Tinkered by Senner Tuning

Before you start thinking otherwise, let us to tell you that what Senna Tuning really means by the term 'Super Sport Concept', is a performance package with engine, suspension and wheel upgrades for the Audi R8 4.2 V8 FSI. The main event of the treatment concerns the V8 engine. A reprogrammed ECU, the use of special sport air filter and a custom built exhaust system, all help to boost output from 420HP and 430Nm to 458 horsepower and 470Nm of torque.

Then, the German tuning house adds sport suspension springs that lower the R8's ride height by about 25mm up front and 15mm at the back, while the package is finished with a set of 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in high performance Dunlop tires.

The full package including the engine modifications is priced at €14,900 or around US$22,500 at today's exchange rates.

Hard Drive It: Audi R8 Diecast Model with 250-640GB Data Storage Capacity

Many gear heads like ourselves, like to decorate their office desk with scale model cars that chances are, will never be able to afford in this life. Now what better for our congested workspace if the scale model could also incorporate a hard drive? Well, at least that seems to be the idea behind the products of a company called Flash Rods that specializes on scale model cars with integrated flash or hard drives.

The company's latest creation is a 1:18 scale Audi R8 that incorporates a hard drive disk that connects up to your PC by USB to store all your files. The company said that the Audi R8 will be available for sale on November 1st, in 250GB, 500GB and 640GB configurations and numerous colors.

The company hasn't announced prices yet for the R8, but the already available 1:18 scale Dodge Challenger and Nissan GT-R HDDs both start from $209.99 for the 250GB versions.

Audi Offers to Place an R8 V10 on Your Garage for Just $469.99

So, you're probably wondering by now whether or not we're pulling your leg, right? Well, if you read the title carefully, you'll have noticed that we said "on" and not "in" your garage. To explain. Being realistic and all, Audi is well aware of the fact that with a six-figure price tag, very few people in this world can afford to park a 535HP V10-powered R8 5.2 FSI in their garage.

With this in mind, the creative folks of Audi's Canadian division came up with the next best thing to owning the vehicle itself: a 1:1 scale, life-size print of red R8 V10 for your... garage door.

At first we thought it must be some sort of marketing / advertising gimmick, but Audi of Canada actually offers the special print for sale on its official website at a price of $469.99 CAD (about $430 US or €293 at today's exchange rates).

The R8 garage cover is available for three different garage door sizes but unfortunately for most of you that liked the idea, you'll be thwarted to know that it's only offered for Canadian residents.

MFK Autosport Gives a Small Boost to the Audi R8

The German tuning firm MFK Autosports has gotten its hands on the Audi R8 offering a series of small upgrades for the 'entry-level' V8 model. Thanks to the reprogrammed electronics, the 4.2-liter FSI engine's output climbs from 420 horsepower to 450HP while buyers may also opt for a "flap-controlled sport exhaust system". The price for the upgraded ECU is €1,995 and for the exhaust system including mounting, €5,700.

The tuner also offers a set of Schmidt Revolution GT Performance 19-inch alloy wheels mounted on beefy 245/35 tires on the front axle and 315/30 at the back. The complete set of wheels is available for €7,699.

For those that want to further personalize their car, MFK Autosport said that it offers an extensive list with additional features and performance upgrades.

Video: Audi's Dazzling R8 Spyder 5.2 FSI V10 in Motion

The more we get to see of the new drop-top variant of the Audi R8 sports car that was revealed in Frankfurt this week, the more we like. Price aside -we're talking close to €160k / $230k here, what's not to like about Ingolstadt's gorgeous creation that's powered by a Lamborghini-sourced 5.2-liter V10 with 525 horsepower? If for whatever reasons you're still not convinced about the R8 Spyder maybe the video after the break will do the trick for you.

Audi Blinds the Frankfurt Crowds with Mirror Finish R8 5.2 FSI V10

Together with the supercharged S5 Sportback, the stunning R8 Spyder, the A3 1.2 TSI, the A4 3.0 TDI and the futuristic e-Tron Electric sports car concept, Audi also showcased a blindingly shiny R8 5.2 FSI V10 coupe in a chrome finish - you know, of the same sort that we make fun of when we see parked outside ritzy hotels in Dubai... There's nothing official on the car by Audi but we gather that it will probably provide the inspiration for a custom made job.
