2011 BMW 5-Series Sedan Partially Revealed in Leaked Pictures

The official, live unveiling of the 2011 BMW 5-Series, which carries the internal codename F10, isn't due until Monday, November 23, but the first batch of photos of the executive sedan with the 'skirt' lifted just high enough so we can get a good peak of the front-end design, have already made their way to the internet.

To no one's surprise, the wide, prominent kidney grille and the shape of the headlights of the new mid-size sedan are almost identical to the 5-Series GT "cross-thingy" which in turn was inspired by the latest 7-Series limousine.

When it goes on sale in 2010, the new BMW 5-Series will be offered with a mix of four-cylinder and straight-six turbo diesels as well as naturally aspirated and turbocharged six-cylinder, and V8 turbo gasoline engines.

Unless someone drops the lid on sixth-generation 5-Series earlier, we'll have the 'Full Monty' on the Bavarian automaker's Audi A6 and Mercedes-Benz E-Class rival on Monday.

BMW Video Teases 2011 5-Series Sedan, Official Unveiling on November 23

In typical BMW fashion, the Bavarian automaker has published a brief press release stating that the next-generation 5-Series Sedan will be officially revealed to the world on November 23. The release was accompanied by a short trailer teasing the executive sedan's silhouette through the use of the kinetic sculpture from the BMW Museum.

There's nothing else official on the sixth-generation 5-Series, but we do know that it is closely related to the controversial 5-Series GT and that the sedan model will be followed by a Touring version and of course, an all-new M5 that will get a twin-turbocharged V8 engine instead of the current model's naturally aspirated V10.

Hamann Tunes into the new BMW 5-Series GT

Longtime BMW tuner Hamann is preparing a new twist on the Bavarian automaker's latest model, the 5-Series GT. The tuning firm published a photo gallery of the GT wearing beefier alloy wheels in various designs. And even though Hamann did not accompany the pictures with any details whatsoever, when the tuning program for the GT hits the market later this year buyers can expect a full bodykit with various aero parts along with brake and suspension upgrades plus engine improvements.

BMW 5-Series GT Spotted by Reader in New Jersey

julino billym reader Kenneth Helman caught these photos of the forthcoming BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo in a parking lot somewhere in New Jersey. Even though the Bavarian firm has already released a slew of official shots as well as initial specifications, for some reason the automaker chose to mask the BMW logo - as if anyone could confuse the 5-meter (196-in.) long crossover for something else...

BMW's newest addition to the 5-Series range will debut at this fall's Frankfurt motor show and go on sale in most parts of the world by the end of year.

Depending on the market, the liftback crossover will be offered with a choice of three power plants, a 3.0-liter twin turbocharged inline six petrol with 306HP for the 535i GT, a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 petrol delivering 407HP in the 550i GT and a 3.0-liter straight-six diesel with 245HP in the 530d GT.

We thank Kenneth again for the shots, and remember that if you find any scoops of your own, don't hesitate to send them our way.

VIDEO: BMW 'Joyful' Promo Film with Some Neat Classics

The maker of 'The Ultimate Driving Machine' has released a new promotional video featuring past, current and feature production and concept bimmers such as the Z1 and Z8 roadsters, M3 E30, 2002 Convertible and the controversial 5-Series GT. As with the Z4 Roadster, the Bavarians chose to use the 'Joy' slogan in their latest film. As you can see in the video, BMW overdid it with the joy theme as everyone is smiling like a Cheshire cat on dope. And oh, for those that don't understand a word of German, no need to panic as we've added an official translation right after the jump.

Translation: We are a car company. But we don't just make cars. We make time machines, Build Snowplows, And create works of art.

We inspire fans, And fan clubs. We are efficient and dynamic. We even shape the future.

We realized a long time ago that what you make people feel is just as important ... as what you make. And at BMW we make Joy.

Reader Snaps 2010 BMW 5-Series GT and 2010 BMW X1 SUV on the Road

Yes, we know, we've already seen the BMW 5-Series GT while we've also posted a mega gallery of the final prototype model of the X1 SUV at the official presentation in Spain, but we just love it when julino billym readers go all '007' on us. And that's precisely what Gal Leibovich did when he 'stumbled' upon both Bavarian models while vacationing in Germany. Gal was apparently on a spying spree as he also spotted a heavily camouflaged 2010 5-Series sedan, but the test driver was on to him and left the scene in a hurry before our man could take some more photos.

Both the BMW 5-Series GT crossover thingy and the X1 compact SUV are scheduled to make their first public appearance at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September with sales starting (in Europe) in the fall of 2009. Great work Gal!
