VW Scirocco R: Updated Wallpaper Gallery with 35 High-Res Photos

On occasion of the international driving presentation of the new Scirocco R at Nice, France, Volkswagen released a new photo gallery of its pumped-up coupe. As a reminder, the front-wheel drive only Scirocco R is fitted with a 2.0-litre TSI four-cylinder engine that develops 265-horsepower and 258 lbs ft of torque. When equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox, it sprints from 0 to 100km/h (62mph) in 6.0 seconds. With the DSG dual clutch transmission, the sprint time is cut by 0.2 seconds. Check out the updated album after the jump.

APS Launches 170HP Performance kit for VW Scirocco Coupe 2.0 TDi

If you live in the UK and have already opted for the 140HP instead of the 170HP version of VW's 2.0TDi for the Scirocco, then you may want to look at the new ECU upgrade from APS. The tuner's Stage One kit which is limited to the revised map for the 2.0 turbo diesel's engine management system, lifts output from 140HP and 236 lb.ft to a more potent 170 horsepower and 292 lb.ft of torque.

APS claims that fuel economy is unaffected by the ECU upgrade, so a combined figure of 55mpg UK (44.8mpg US or 5.2 lt/100km) can be expected.

The APS Stage One kit for the VW Scirocco 2.0 TDi is priced in Britain at £499, including fitting and VAT, and is covered by a guarantee for the balance of the manufacturer's warranty.

2010 VW Eos and Scirocco get Golf GTI's 210HP 2.0 TSI Engine, Fuel Consumption Reduced by up to 9%

We first told you about VW's decision to replace the 200HP 2.0 TSI engine with the Golf GTI's newer and more powerful 210HP 2.0 TSI on the Scirocco earlier this month when the company's UK arm announce the availability of the GT model in the market. Now, VW has made known that aside from the Scirocco, the Eos will also benefit from this change with both models being available across Europe.

The new powerplant from the latest-generation Golf GTI produces an extra 10-horsepower for a total output of 210HP while torque remains the same as the 200HP unit at 280Nm (207 lb-ft). Once again, the four-cylinder engine is fitted with a six-speed manual as standard and optionally, with VW's DSG dual clutch transmission.

Volkswagen claims that with this engine, the Scirocco's 0-100 km/h (62mph) sprint time has been cut by a significant 0.3 seconds over the outgoing 200HP model, at 6.9 seconds. The Eos 210HP 2.0 TSI hits the 100km/h mark from standstill in 7.8 seconds.

The latest 2.0 TSI is not only more powerful but also more fuel efficient than its predecessor as the German automaker says that the Scirocco 210HP returns a combined fuel economy of 7.4 lt/100km (31.8mpg US) representing a 5 per cent improvement over the previous model. Even better, the Eos 2.0 TSI 210HP consumes on average 7.2lt /100km (32.7 mpg US), which translates into a 9 per cent reduction in fuel consumption.

The 2010MY Scirocco and Eos 2.0 TSI 210HP are on sale now in Europe with prices in Germany starting from €26,050 and €31,975 respectively.

MR Car Design Blacks Out and Powers Up VW Scirocco to 370HP

Adding to the many tuning proposals available for VW's Scirocco is a new specially modified version of the coupe called 'Black Rocco' that was developed by German firm MR Car Design. Wrapped in a matte black vinyl, the Black Rocco features a full bodykit from Rieger that consists of a front apron, side skirts and a rear apron with an integrated diffuser that houses the four tail pipes. The red pin stripes and 20-inch alloy wheels shod in 235/30 ZR20 S1 EVO high performance tires complete the exterior package.

Underneath the bonnet lurks a heavily tweaked version of the Scirocco's 210HP 2.0-liter TFSI engine that has received a Stage 3 turbo kit, a new downpipe, reprogrammed ECU and a custom-made exhaust system for an overall output of 370-horsepower and 519Nm or 382 lb-ft of peak torque.

MR Car Designe also fitted the car with a new limited slip differential, a Stoptech high performance brake system and new coilovers from KW Automotive. The tuning firm has yet to announce pricing on its new Sciorcco-based model.
