I am curious as to why diesel never caught on in the US despite most automakers producing diesel models.
The engines last longer. ;)

My application produces a timer value when I shake the iphone. I need to perform 8 shakes and after each shake, i need to save that particular result into a file and later retrieve these values from the file to convert them into binary format. Can someone tell me if this can be done? If so, how?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thinking 4 is ok, but a good deal on a 8GB is tempting as well.
Pm me, let me know what you have.

I hate to be SO negative about this, but I've never understood the attraction here with a .mac account. I guess it fills the need of some people...but based on all the webmails with online storage - what is the main attraction here? Syncing? With USB storage, CDR's, DL-DVD's who would really need to use this much?
I did a little web page with iWeb (cute but TERRIBLY limiting) and thus had to get a temporary .mac account, but once built..it just sat there and slowly expired.
.mac is the Mac product in my "apple gut" that makes me cringe... very similiar to the cringe I get when I think about going back to my PC for something! Also, it reminds me of the feeling I got when I canceled my subscription to Macworld because it became iPod world...
I really just hate it. Damn! this rumor just pissed me off.
growl.
Does anyone have access to usage numbers? I'd like to know how much .mac is used...

I really liked this one. I've tried many other apps that gather the Album Cover art for iTunes songs/albums but this is the best by far.
It's called Clutter (http://www.sprote.com/clutter/).
Launch Clutter when you have iTunes open. As a song is playing, Clutter automatically looks up the album art. Once found, under the File menu select copy to iTunes and BAM, it's there for the WhOLE album. Sweet.
One note. If it doesn't find the art, just go under the File menu and choose "Find cover in Amazon". Just type in different variations of the artist or song and i'm sure it'll pop up.
Enjoy,
~e
And to think that I spent all that time to manually gather album art! If I had only known! Ugh! :o

Hard to explain, you just need to download it.
From what I gather, it's just like LaunchBar, no?
I haven't messed with it a whole lot, so I don't know all its ins and outs, but it seemed to be doing a similiar thing (brings up applications/files as you type).
Not bad, although if they are the same idea, I prefer launch bar - just wish it was free ;)

Hi. Thanks for the kind advice. I really appreciate it. I know you're right about my pricing. I need to get an organized pricing plan together. I don't know if I'm shooting myself in the foot by charging hourly? I know some designers charge by the type of job and the type of labor it entails (conceptual vs. layout, etc.). If it's not being too intrusive, could I ask if you prefer to charge hourly or by the job? Thanks again. :)
Most clients are going to want a quote, so that's what you need to give them. However, if a particular client is happy to pay by the hour, you can choose to do it that way too. Whichever way you do it, communication needs to be clear, so the client doesn't get a nasty shock at the end of the job.
When doing a quote, you're really estimating the number of hours it's going to take you anyway. Estimating accurately is hard when you start, but like anything you get better at it the more you do. I actually created a program to help do estimates eventually, because I hated doing it so much, and it saves me a lot of time.
Am I right in saying you've not worked for another design company before? That makes a lot of things hard for you I think, because in working for someone else you get to learn an awful lot that they won't have taught you at the school. Perhaps you're really set on sticking to the plan of going straight into business, but if it were me, I'd want to do at least a year in another design studio before going out on my own. You see how they do things and can adopt the good, and learn from the not-so-good.
Anyway, whichever way you decide to go, I certainly wish you all the best. :)

The real measurement of how well the CDMA phone will do is when apple releases the iPhone 5. That way people can measure the performance when both carriers are starting off at the same time.
If the iPhone 5 Rumors are true, the iPhone 5 will still have CDMA access for the Verizon version and all of its crippled features: slow network, no data/voice multitasking, limited conference call abilities.

I'm looking for a good dock that I can use my iPod nano and iPhone 3g with. I'm going for sound clarity and good volume.. and would like to budget at around $100.
Would prefer one that works with an AC Adapter as well as battery's.
Any suggestions?
Thanks..

Chupa Chupa I'm with you and others that have agreed with you.
You people want to bitch about at&t so much you don't even know what you're bitching about. You signed a 2, two, dos, zwei, hult, ǧūǧ, laba, שְׁנַ֫יִם, year contract..... No matter what language you say it in that number is TWO. AT&T has no obligation to let you upgrade early at any price. Stop whining and crying and throwing a fit and be a grown up and deal with the contract you signed. Don't like it pay the ETF and go else where.

I receive 1080i HDTV signal via satellite. Gotta love MonstersHD. :DHow do you record shows on your Mac and archive into mp4 files?I can't! That's why I'm looking for a DVR solution. I can get an HD DVR receiver from Dish for $200 and that's looking like my best option at this point. I just garaged my Yamaha surround system and picked up a Samsung Home Theater system--the HT-Q70 system. 1,000 watts, 5 dvd carousel, HDMI out, plays DIVX and has a USB port that allows me to play DIVX movies off of a thumb drive. I think the HT-Q80 is out now and it has HDMI in and out.Bummer. I guess we're in the twilight zone of non-archival capability so far. Hopefully solutions will surface in the next 12 months. You guys are making me feel very lucky to have 3 off air HD sources (CBS, NBC, Fox) and 1 SD (PBS) that work with EyeTV 500. I didn't realize how hard it is for many others to get HDTV broadcasts off the air as well.

Did you put the CRT in upside down? I'm pretty sure the connectors will fit in one-way only.

Being a little nit-picky, I reckon this'd be even cooler if you slowed it down a little. :)

There are a couple nice looking brush aluminum keyboards on the market, unfortunately, they have a PC layout rather than a Mac layout.

Hopefully those who are not eligible, will be honest and will keep away.

I actually donated exactly once, as a gay virgin.
Arrgh! You cited the tamest statistic from the CDC article. Here are the others: 20% of gay men are HIV positive and 44% don't know it.
THAT is why the question is asked. As a future possible recipient of blood, I'm glad they ask it.
