Party Planning: A Little Bug Picnic

Can you believe little Chloe will be 2 years old in just a few weeks?? I swear it feels like yesterday that I was pregnant and we were working on the nursery. Now Chloe's a running, stomping, mess-making, babbling wee one who rocks my world.

I admit though that planning another birthday party has me excited. Some may think it unnecessary, to go all out with a theme for a little girl who will barely remember it, but really I can't do small, simple, adhoc celebrations. That's just not me. If you saw Chloe's 1st birthday tea party, you'll know that's true. I love to be creative and this is one time to do that, to go all out, come up with a fun idea, and feel like a kid again. I hope too that Chloe recognizes the effort, that some small part will stick in her brain and at 16 she'll remember her wonderful birthday parties as a kid, all the colourful decorations, the food, the games. Dreamy, fun, beautiful... that's how I want her to remember her childhood.

So I've found inspiration and have started to gather materials. Want to see what I'm planning?

If you follow me on Pinterest, you'll see all these pics and others that inspire me. Chloe loves bees and ladybugs so that's what we're going with. But I'm adding a picnic element just because I think gingham makes for prettier party decor than red and black polka dots :)

I'll be sharing some of the crafts and party stuff over the next few weeks. Living room reno is still ongoing (HandyMan will be framing for the fireplace this weekend!) so I'll have to keep all that sawdust out of my glue ;)
